    Description:
    Bocote Wood
    Scientific Name: Cordia spp.
    Distribution: Mexico and Central/South America
    Janka Hardness: 2010 lbs
    Color/Appearance: Has a yellowish brown body with dramatic dark brown to almost black stripes. Color tends to darken with age. Also, the grain patterning can be quite striking, particularly on flatsawn areas. It’s not uncommon to see many “eyes” and other figuring in Bocote: though unlike knots, they do not seem to present any special challenges in machining.
    Bocote can be a very eye catching wood, especially for knife handles and grips.  It’s easy to work and super dense so it can be polished to a gem like finish. You’ll love it!

    Sometimes I will mist the dry woods to demonstrate the potential finished look or apply a sealer for stability. The really green wood often needs to be waxed to preserve stability for shipping and storage.
    As with all wood, there may be cracks, blemishes, lines, voids and bark inclusions which may or may not be visible in the photos or may show up later in the drying process. My items have a 14 day money back return policy. I will do my best to get images of  all sides of the wood. I can’t pay the return shipping, but will do my utmost to make sure you are completely satisfied with the transaction.
